I’m becoming pretty adept with JQuery after having tapped away at the keyboard for a very long time this year. I have a lot of ideas that I want to find time to implement with JQuery but we will have to wait until I finish the next two projects that I’ve got going on.

Actions Speak Louder Than Words

On every task you complete on behalf of another person or yourself, put in that extra little bit of time to see if you can add more value to that singe action. Doing this instantly starts to increase the value you are creating.
It helps when you make a conscious mental realisation to respect the reason why you are doing it and who you are ultimately doing it for.
Once you can demonstrate increasing value over a sustained, consistent basis you will then forever be giving more value, and ever increasing your earning power.
See every task as a skill you are trying to master, knowing that you have mastered it when you perform the task virtually automatically.

How to learn 365 lessons in the next year

Each day, whether it’s been:

good or bad
exciting or boring
successful or unsuccessful
happy or unhappy

Ask yourself what you can learn from whatever experience you happened to have. How did you create what happened? What can you learn from that in relation to how you would have wanted it to go?

This automatically puts you back into a mentality where you are ‘in control’ of your destiny and into a positive (and eventually enthusiastic) frame of mind.

The trick is to go into detail – only possible through writing it down or brainstorming it (but physically get it onto paper), and keep demanding answers until you have that ‘breakthrough’ ‘aha’ moment. The next trick is to summarise that into a short sentence and write it down. Put it in your diary or journal so in a year you can look back and have 365 lessons learnt

If you like, work out what you can actually do to make sure you put into practice what you have learnt (after deciding to learn it, of course!)

Image Test for WP Theme

The one thing that annoys me about WordPress is that when adding a new post from within the admin system, you are using a different width to that which your theme is using for the content area. This has created immense problems with multiple image floating / alignment in the past. Even ModX didn’t fix it with their onpage editor.

Let’s get this width right for images…

Ok, 550px width works nicely with this theme. Lines up proper, and all that…

Found the newer alternative to Thickbox today, ColorBox. It’s excellent and I’m using it to build a event calendar application using AJAX and PHP.
Gold is now at $1280 per ounce as opposed to $780 when I first recommended buying it 22 months ago.

I’ve finally got inspired to start getting SimonKincaid.com up and running again. I will soon be adding a new domain for my web design and development services, rather than use this one. I will be posting lots of things of interest on here, and it will be the launchpad for all the other ideas that will be starting up from now forward.

Would just like to say that I have finally found a wordpress theme that I actually like. Yes, I know it’s unbelievably simple but being a minimalist I do love it

That’s not to say I won’t add a lick of colour and some nice images because eventually I will… but it’s the simplicity of structure that I really enjoy. You’ve also got to hand it to the people at WordPress for the software they have developed. Being able to launch a fully functioning and powerful CMS within five minutes (when you’ve done it a few times even less than two perhaps … depends on caffeine levels) is just awesome. Unfortunately I still don’t think it’s a fully viable CMS for fully blown websites, but time will tell..
